Getting a D1 Licence

“My instructor helped me build my skills and confidence, so I was ready for my test. Trainers are approachable, helpful and friendly”.

(Emily - National Trust)

If you passed your car test after 1st January 1997,  you can only drive minibuses under certain strict conditions:

* 4,250 kg’s if fitted with a lift or ramp.

It is the last two conditions that can pose significant problems for many organisations, particularly those who use younger drivers.

Remember that if you do not hold the correct licence for the vehicle you are driving, you are committing an offence and will probably be uninsured.

LCTS provides training to help drivers obtain their D1 driving licence - further information is contained in our Guide to getting a D1 Licence
